Orgasmic birth - is it possible?
"It was a completely relaxed, almost enjoyable experience!!" Helen
For many women the concept of pleasure and birth do not go hand in hand. However there are a growing number of women who would describe their experience as pleasurable - even orgasmic.
Most women are not aware of the hormonal changes that occur during birth or that those hormones work in a very similar way during love making. Couples will attend traditional antenatal classes or read classic pregnancy books and learn about the physical mechanics of birth, however they are often not taught that given certain conditions, women can experience a high degree of pleasure and ecstasy during birth.
Top tips for achieving an "orgasmic birth":-
1. Make sure the environment is right ie you feel safe, private, unobserved
2. Keep the same conditions as you would during love making - lights low, candles, soft lights, low voices
3. Allow your body to go completely limp during contractions - accept and surrender to the power of the contraction
4. If it feels right, spend time between contractions cuddling and kissing with your partner
5. Clitoral stimulation during birth can enhance the birthing hormones and help you relax
6. Deal with any fears related to birth before you go into labour and verbalise any fears that come up during the birth.
7. Do not set out to achieve and orgasmic birth - just go with the flow and accept whatever you are feeling
